From hands-on horse care to emergency response support, there’s a place for you at H.E.R.O. Grounds. Please note: this is a working equine center — many roles involve physical outdoor work.

Volunteer Opportunities

Barn & Grounds Crew

Heavy Lifting

Help keep our facility rescue-ready: mucking stalls, moving hay, maintaining corrals, and general upkeep of the Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park.

Requirements

Age 16+. Sturdy footwear required. Training provided on site.

Evacuation Response Team

Heavy Lifting

Join our trained large animal evacuation teams. Assist with trailer loading, animal handling, and transport during emergency activations.

Requirements

Age 18+. Large animal handling experience preferred. Must complete our emergency response training program. Valid driver’s license a plus.

Event & Outreach Support

Light Duty

Represent H.E.R.O. Grounds at community events, fundraisers, and training days. Help with setup, registration, and telling our story.

Requirements

Friendly attitude and reliability. No equine experience needed.

Feeding & Horse Care

Heavy Lifting

Morning and evening feeding shifts, water checks, and basic care for horses staged at our facility.

Requirements

Age 16+. Basic horse handling comfort preferred; training provided. Lifting feed bags and hay flakes involved.

Administrative & Logistics

Light Duty

Support behind the scenes: volunteer coordination, supply inventory, data entry, and scheduling.

Requirements

Computer literacy and organizational skills. Remote-friendly for some tasks.
